Where can you have the opportunity to hear four inspirational speakers, promote your business, see what others have to offer that could help you AND have supper and network all in one evening? Only at the Elmbridge Women in Business Summer Fair!

We will have four short talks on wide ranging topics – self defence, finance, writing and setting goals, plus a wide array of stalls from local business owners promoting their products and services. So come along and be inspired to take action to grow your business and to look after yourself!

If you would like a stall, please contact Evonne Brown via email at evonnebrown@live.co.uk. The cost of a table is included in the normal meeting fees of £12 for members of Elmbridge Women in Business and Ladies at E11even and £25 for visitors.

Unusually for our women’s group, we have a male speaker (although he is talking about handbags!), so on this unique occasion we are opening up the event to male visitors too! So if you know any men who could benefit from the event and who would like to take advantage of this unique networking opportunity, please bring them along!

How to write effective copy for your blogs & website : Hilary Gavin

SOCIAL Media has arrived and it is impacting how small businesses find, evaluate, promote, recommend and share information, products and services and how they rate suppliers.

It is also changing the ways in which you to listen to your customers and engage with them if you want to succeed. You can ignore or avoid it, but if people are talking about you then doing nothing means you have no say in the discussion.

The obvious answer is to embrace it. An active Facebook, Twitter and blogging presence ensures you have the tools in place to listen to what is being said, to participate and to initiate conversations.

But how do you become an effective blogger? Journalists are taught to write copy that hooks readers in and keeps them there and Hilary will share tips on how to get your readers hooked.

Making a Difference for Yourself : Sonia Duggan

What one thing could you work on to improve your life?
What one goal have you been putting off that you’d like to move forward on?
What could you do differently to live your potential?
What seed of an idea could grow if you gave it some brain time?
If failure weren’t an option, what would you go for?

If any of these questions strike a chord with you, even a hint of “if only,” “what if,” “maybe just maybe,” – then this session is for you. Be ready to think, feel, imagine, problem-solve, all in service of YOU. You finish with a good start to an action plan of what you want to do and when.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS

Hilary Gavin – Editor of the Woking News & Mail
Hilary is a former “Fleet Street” journalist and is the current editor of the Woking News and Mail.
She has extensive experience from working with local and national newspapers and has also worked as a freelance multi-media journalist so has experience of running her own business. She – like other journalists – was taught how to write compelling copy and will share her secrets with you.

Garth Delikan – Lifestyle expert & personal empowerment coach
During a period of intense professional and personal change that the concept of The Lifestyle Guy came to mind…which made Garth realise it was his daily gym and kickboxing workouts and the accompanying feelings of confidence gain, calm and being centred that were the “true passions” of his life and really “The Secret” to his early successes.

This led to his new career path working as a personal trainer, kickboxing instructor and nutritionist with a large and successful client base around Kensington, Chelsea, Mayfair and Knightsbridge and he also taught kickboxing at many London gyms.

He then created his corporate workshops on “Women’s Awareness and Personal Safety”which are “not self defence classes” as he much preferred the idea of “safety through awareness” and not getting into that situation in the first place, although he will teach you a few “funky moves” and role play that require no strength or special technique that anyone can use regardless of size to “buy themselves two seconds” to get to a place of safety.

Kathryn Crockford – Axis Accounting & Training Limited
Kathryn has worked in a variety of accounting roles within the industry and commerce sector and have run her own accounting practice, Axis Accounting & Training Limited since December 1996. This experience has given her the ability to assess the appropriate accounting systems and required procedures and processes to enable effective financial management for any business operation. As well as looking after both the financial and management accounts for a number of businesses, she also provide training on demand in accounting procedures and various software packages.

Sonia Duggan – Coaching with Inspiration
Sonia has evolved from having to know all the answers as a maths teacher to just needing to ask the right questions as a coach, which is a lot more fun. In between these two careers she spent over ten years in marketing – organising events, writing copy, editing and proof-reading. She is also a creative writer of poetry, short stories, romantic comedy and children’s stories.

Sonia trained as a parenting group facilitator in the late 90s and as a life coach in 2008. She qualified as a writer’s coach earlier this year. She combines her love of creative writing with coaching in her workshop “Feel the Fear … and Write it Anyway”, as well as by coaching writers individually. She also combines her passion for increasing children’s self-esteem and joy within the family by coaching parents either in groups or 1-1. Sonia’s own life changed dramatically as a result of coaching in 2007 and she is passionate about helping other people to lead more fun-filled and fulfilled lives.
